The best-written article or most stunning photograph will have little success in today’s media environment if it is not presented in a compelling and inviting manner.
I have spent years creating that compelling package, combining copy and images to create stunning newspaper, magazine and promotional designs that draw readers in, break down information into easy-to-digest elements, and create emotional responses.
I approach my designs like puzzles, with all of the elements known, but the final picture a mystery until I create it. That process of creation takes extensive planning and hands-on problem-solving as I work towards creating the most effective design possible. As such, I am fully invested in each of my products as I strive for a high-concept, meaningful and relevant design every time. My work is truly a meeting of passion with knowledge, and the end result is unmistakeable quality.
I believe the design is what tells the full story of any publication, and have been successful in tailoring that final story to a variety of audiences.
My newspaper designs have clearly defined elements that help readers easily draw the information they need from copy, while also creating a unique visual experience that compels them to read more.
My work with magazines focuses on a more elegant style, painting a picture with both words and images and creating an emotional response.
My promotional work designing posters and flyers has helped a variety of performing arts organizations pack their theaters by capturing the magic of a performance in a single image.
Throughout my career, I have developed proficiency in a variety of design programs including InDesign, Quark, Painter, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
I have also helped two papers reconnect with readers by leading them through redesigns, completely reinventing and modernizing the look of the papers from the A1 Masthead to the back page.
Most recently I have helped to develop a pagination hub for over 30 newspapers from six different states, helping standardise design and reduce costs while maintaining consistent quality.
