Whether we like or not, the Web is the future of the media world. I have spent the past 10 years trying to help small community papers tap into that future and prepare for business in the 21st Century.

Those efforts have included creating online photo sales shops, developing dynamic Joomla CMS-based websites, creating social media identities, developing online video assets to complement printed product, and researching ways to easily convert documents prepared for print to files that can be distributed for e-readers like the Kindle and Nook.

I have been involved with online media and news distribution since the days of HTML and have worked to adjust my skills sets as the online world has evolved, learning a variety of content management systems and developing strategies for social media.

In today’s world of content management systems, anyone can have a website, and the old adage “content is king” is truer than ever, making a well-planned Internet presence all the more valuable.
